As some of you may know from my e-blast, I announced that Drip Drop was looking for a new owner. My initial plan was to sell the business and have it continue without me. However, after meeting with a few different prospective buyers, I’ve come to the realization that this isn’t a viable business to sell, and therefore we will be closing at the end of August 2026.
This is a really heartbreaking announcement to make, and this is not a decision I took lightly. To be completely honest, I have debated on closing the business for about a year now. But working with so many amazing kids, and not wanting to disappoint, them has made me put off this decision time and time again.
The reality is this business needs way more time and money to make it even mildly profitable, something I can’t afford to do anymore. Supplies are costly, inflation has made it worse, and sales are down. The last 3 years, I’ve been working for close to no money. And at this point, I just need a job that will pay me a living wage so that I can start to pay off the debt I have from opening the business. Something the studio could probably never do for several years, and not without me spending all my time away from my young kids.
I’ve spent a lot of time the last few weeks grieving this decision. I have a running list of kids in my head that I know love this studio, I just can’t bear to think about how sad they will be when they hear this news. Your kids deserve a safe and creative space like this, and I’m so sorry I can’t be the one to make this happen. I will miss each and everyone of your kids so dearly and hope to see them over the summer before we close.
I am trying to think of ways I can continue to bring art to the kids of Clark County, but I need some time to figure it out. Maybe it will be continuing summer camps each year, or maybe continuing sewing lessons, or pop up style events. I have some other ideas as well but you can watch this page, join my mailing list, or follow me on instagram, if I plan to do something.
All camps and events scheduled through August will continue as is. After all our scheduled events are done, we will sell our supplies sometime near the end of August. If you are interested in purchasing furnishings or supplies in bulk, please reach out via email. I will also have a supply sale at the end of the summer, so watch this page for a date of that.
I thank you all endlessly for the support this community has offered over the last three years. I will cherish these years for the rest of my life as you have all had a lasting impact on me and my family. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have, or even a favorite memory or project your child has from our studio. I would love to hear it all <3
